"When I'm sketching or painting a portrait I look for the subjects most wonderful and interesting features and slightly exaggerate them. When this is a person or beloved pet, I strive to bring life to the eyes, the most expressive part of a portrait. Proper lighting, posing, and elaborate backgrounds can make a painting incredibly appealing even emotional."
Susan has undertaken numerous commissions for private and corporate clients in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. These have included Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki on the “Young and the Restless”), Spike Owen (Major League Baseball Player), and the Chiola Winery in Italy.
