Nancy Houghton Nixon
Third Generation maternal painter, great niece to Edward Willis Redfield-New Hope Impressionist.

Refusing to comfortably reside with a single medium, my work exhibits itself in a countless states: blown and slumped glass, steel and bronze sculpture, silver and ceramic jewelry, acrylic on wood, canvas and metal, pastels, gouache, egg tempera, mixed media and found object to name but a few.

That which is incomplete somehow stretches our imagination further. My paintings and sculptures follow this thread closely. I have started two new series of paintings,"Faces of History and Scapes-Land and Sea", although my work changes like the weather of Western New York, as I am influenced by my surroundings and offerings. The themes are similar to those of my past
works, but the imagery is more subtle and relaxed reflecting my own life today.

My icon paintings are constantly influenced by the timeless nature of the original images, my abstract figures float throughout their painted skin, their eyes affixed within. I rely on my inner memory, flooded images of my past, my present, my future wishes. I continue to sell work through galleries and on commission through my studio by appointment only.
